Jeanne Baret

Being intelligent and having a good understanding of the world around her heped Jeanne Baret become the amazing woman she turned out to be. She had a large interest in plants which led her to supply herbs to many physicians. She wanted more than this though. She decided to dress up like a man and started her journey being a part of the research team on naval ships. She loved this and was so passionate about the work she did. Her most amazing discovery was the colorful vine native to South America called bougainvillea. Upon being found out by Aotourou for being a girl, she was fearful of being attacked. The rest of her time was difficult, while more and more people began to get Scurvy and they resorted to eating the rats on the ships. At age 67 she died, leaving her legacy as the first women to circumnavigate the globe.
